Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys, 2026 - $25

This series focuses on one of the quiet heroes of western cinema: the cowboy hat. Each small painting features an instantly recognizable hat worn by an iconic character, from Clint Eastwood’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly to John Wayne’s turns in True Grit, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, El Dorado, and The Shootist, and Robert Duvall in Lonesome Dove. Stripped of the figure and the storyline, the hat stands alone as a symbol of visibility and character, often signaling the “good guy” before a word is spoken. Rendered on 5" square wood panels with bold, solid backgrounds and exposed wood grain, the simplicity is intentional. These works combine western art and film history, while embracing the power of design, recognition, and myth. Small, approachable, and collectible, each piece celebrates how something as simple as a hat can carry an entire story.
